A grand old Civil War era Rogers, posing with Joe Jackson at the
sawmill of Frye & Humphries around 1893. The location is at
Humphries, right outside of Stockton in Clinch County, Georgia.
Also known as Frye's siding where the 10,000 foot a day sawmill was
located. The headquarters of the company was located at Stockton.
Later the company's mill was taken over by the T. M. Greene & Co.,
whom added a planing and a lathe mill in 1907. The company at that
point owned one locomotive, 4 logging cars and 5 miles of 30 lb rail.

A
new weekly series called Locomotives has begun, as I dig deep into my locomotive portrait archives. I
have been active scanning my collection and after 5 years I am finally
beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I will start
publishing my findings every week around Monday. I will still
web
publish the occasional railroad history, but this series will fill in
the time in between.
